SomaiconQS (SCQS) was founded in December 2017 by Shikar Somai who began as a Quantity

Surveying Consultant offering Quantity Surveying solutions to Contractors providing Scaffold Access,

Surface Preparation, Corrosion Prevention, Thermal and Acoustic Insulation services within the Oil

and Gas and Energy industries and later diversified to include Facilitator and Assessor services within

the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA).

Considering the sudden financial constraints within the Oil and Gas and Energy industries, much

priority has been placed on getting the job completed as quickly as possible resulting in the

workforce performing daily tasks under immense pressure from management thus affecting credible

reporting of actual man hours spent related to actual work completed.

With the knowledge and experience gained over the last ten years SCQS is able to train Direct Field

Labour and its Supervision to record and report works completed thus obtaining a more valuable

reporting system which in turn assists the Quantity Surveyor and Planner to correctly track progress.

Current reporting methods will be assessed and improved on.

Productivity directly influences the success rate of a project. Over the years the direct field labour

force have become comfortable in the work environment and are rarely willing to change work

procedures and method statements in order to deliver a service not only ahead of schedule but also

at a greater quality level. At SCQS we introduce a sense of belonging and help create an atmosphere

in which the worker will feel just as important as the client.
